PUTTING THEM IN: NO MATER THE LENGTH OF YOUR HAIR EVERYONE SHOULD USE BOBBY PINS! Once you start using them, then you will understand why i recommend it so highly. This can get pretty complicated. So i am breaking it up into some categories.
HIGH PONYTAILS: It is good to style your hair in high ponytails (which means ponytails as high on your head as possible), especially when you have short hair and are using the falls to cover up the hair underneath. High tails also makes your hair look bigger, and lately that is the style that we wish to accomplish.
BUNS: Wet your hair and coat completely with gel or another styling product. Then divide your hair into 2 high ponytails and secure with an elastic hair tie (not a scrunchie, they are too bulky and not as strong). Make sure that they are tight and will not slip down any. Then, twist your hair putting it into buns and then secure with bobby pins all around each bun. 1] Take the hair from the fall and hold it in your right hand. 2] Then, take the elastic from the fall and hold it in your left hand. 3] Pop the fall tie elastic over your left bun, while you are holding the fall hair in your right hand. Make sure that you are attaching the hair to the topside of the bun, not the underside. Make sure that the elastic is going all the way around the base of the bun, this will keep the bun from showing. 4] When it is secured into place, then take the hair in your right hand and flip it over from the topside of your bun to the underside. This will cause the hair to cascade down, looking like a ponytail of your own. Then use bobby pins to secure the fall hair and make sure that it falls in all the right places. 5] repeat process with hair in left hand and working on the right bun starting at step one again.
PONYTAILS: I only recommend ponytails for shorter hairstyles where you cannot get your hair all the way into a bun. Because your hair may get tangled with the fall hair and cause a mess for you at the end of the night. Wet your hair and coat completely with gel or another styling product. Then divide your hair into 2 high ponytails and secure with an elastic hair tie (not a scrunchie, they are too bulky and not as strong). Make sure that they are tight and will not slip down any. 1] tie the fall elastic around your ponytail elastic a few times and make sure that it is secure. 2] Flip the fall hair to the topside of your ponytail and secure with as many bobby pins as needed to cascade the hair down perfectly. The more the better. 3] repeat process with other falls on other ponytails.
CARE FOR STRAIGHT HAIR FALLS yaky/pro silky
BRUSHING INSTRUCTIONS: ragdoll's tip- "i recommend using a wide tooth brush, they keep the falls from ripping and they do not catch the hair as easily. plus, they are easier to clean. and, when there are small braids in your falls, you can still brush over them without them getting caught." Do not brush when the hair is wet. Make sure that it is completely dry before any type of brushing. Grab the base of the fall as tightly as possible. Then start brushing at the ends and working the knots out up to the roots. If the knots are really bad, then i recommend using wig /fall spray, located on the misc page. If there is a know that is just driving you crazy, then brush it as much as you can, and then snip it our carefully with scissors.
WASHING INSTRUCTIONS: Fill a basin with diluted wig shampoo or a mild shampoo of your choice and lukewarm water. Swish fall in the water/shampoo mixture gently for 30 seconds. The remove the fall and hang to dry. You cannot brush the fall until it is completely dry. So please do this way before you plan on wearing the fall, so there is no rush. Please remember to treat your falls lovingly, and they will last long in appreciation of that :P
EXTENSIONS FRIZZIES: After a while, your extensions will start looking frizzy at the ends and not seem to be as smooth. Make sure that they are completely dry! Then, brush through them like you are straightening your hair with a blow dryer on low heat. Make sure at all times that the blow dryer is on low heat. This will heat the heat and smooth it out. This is also the method that people use when they have heat bond loose extensions in their hair. Since our hair is made of the same fiber, then we recommend the same technique.
CARE FOR DREADS
BRUSHING INSTRUCTIONS: Do not brush! Brushing will snag the dreads and rip them apart. No matter what kind of dreads you are dealing with: manufactured dreads, twists, loomed dreads, back combed dreads- do not brush!
WASHING INSTRUCTIONS: I do not recommend constant washing of dreads. Most of the time you can just hang your hairpiece on a hanger in an open area and the smoke and club smell will come out of them. Most handmade dreads cannot be washed, since some types contain dread wax, that will wash out with hot water.
CARE FOR CURLS
BRUSHING INSTRUCTIONS: Whether you are dealing with silky curls, crispy curls, jumbo curls, small curls, or handmade curls- Do not brush! Separate the curls and turn your hairpiece into one big afro. If you are wanting that afro look (which has been popular since the No Doubt "Simple Kind of Life" video), then i recommend silky curls brushed for the pro look.
WASHING INSTRUCTIONS: Any curls that seem to be held together with a poly coating (i.ei- crispy curls and jumbo curls)- DO NOT WASH! Silky curls can be washed, but this might cause them to loose shape.
RESHAPING CURLS: When a curl loses it's shape, most of the time, you can just twist it around your finger a few times to reshape it. if not, then twist it around an object of the same diameter and use the hairdryer on it at low temp.
CARE FOR WAVE SWITCH, MAGIC, HONEY, TOYOKALON
BRUSHING INSTRUCTIONS: Most of the time, all you need to do is run your fingers through the hair gently from the ends to the roots. Finger brushing works on most of the "wet look" hair, such as" toyokalon, honey curl, and magic curl. If the hair must be brushed (such as wave switch and some toyokalon) then get a very wide tooth comb and brush gently from the bottom to the roots. Trim excess hanging pieces with scissors that might have come loose from brushing.
Please remember to treat your falls lovingly, and they will last long in appreciation of that.
